Some relfections...Yes we can only live in the 'now' as Eckhart Tolle so eloquently explores. And yes we can influence the future through the choices we make in the now. But its only ever influence - as others attempt to influence it too... so no-one's plan comes into reality in a sense, because what EMERGES is a combination of influences... (kind of debunks the personal destiny self help stuff for me)Many people seem to think of them as futures at the end of a fishing rod to be reelled in... but perhaps visions are really an alternate reality that we can choose through different decisions/choices... in the now. Visions dont really exist in the future .... although they may be about the future.

Charlie, love your story! Clicking the links directly from the article would have been a LOT easier instead of me having to download the PDF file. It was really annoying.

This article was great! I really learned a lot. I hope your School Superintendent colleagues find this to be of value. Obviously, the dynamics associated with the diffusion of educational innovations in our school systems are critical and coaching can be of great value to these hardworking superintendents. I found it interesting how you connected the way each stage of diffusion of innovation shows up differently for a coach. I certainly have found this to be true just never connected with innovators model. Great stuff. Thank you for sharing.

William great insight I reposted your article on <a

I believe we all have "talent" depends on are awareness, and how we wish or chose to use our talent.
I realize you are "talking" to people who may be life coaches but all people are creative and sometimes need a new direction or perspective!

The author of this article, Daniel Weishut, is doing his entire dissertation on his remarkable relationship with Sheik Ahmad and the differing perspectives one can hold on the nature of leadership and interpersonal relationships. I will encourage Daniel to respond to this initial comment on his article.

I appreciate this comment. He is paternalistic as he should be, and he is not the "authority without love", because at its best, the traditional values operating in many middle eastern societies expect a leader to be a benevolent, just, dutiful, self sacrificing, humble, yet very authoritative "and" loving father figure. As much as he fits this type, he would usually go unchallenged. This sheik does seem to fit the bill. If he did try to be democratic,It is a common mistake that many westerners make to look at eastern societies thru a purely western-values glass. If we do that, many stuff won't make sense. If we looked at the Palestinian and some other Middle Eastern societies thru a post-modern glass and judge some behaviors as "narcissistic" or "paternalistic" in a much Freudian way, we would soon be in error and become irrelevant to these people we are trying to serve and improve with our services.

When making assessments about the Sheik Ahmad’s leadership style, the culture he is leading in, social values, etc. is an essential component to take into consideration.
