Rational/analytical cognition tends to ignore the context of systems of objects, the fact that all objects are in fact processes, the relationships between objects and that all these constitute transforming systems.
John Stewart is a systems thinker. As a core member of the Evolution, Complexity and Cognition Research Group of the Free University of Brussels (ECCO), he brings focus to the evolution of cooperative organisation and the development of consciousness and cognition. As an author, John most recently completed ‘The Evolutionary Manifesto’ which outlines an evolutionary worldview and explores its relevance to humanity. In particular, it identifies how humanity will have to evolve its cognitive capacities, systems of governance and social organisation if humanity is to fulfill its potential to contribute positively to the future evolution of life in the universe. He is also the author of the internationally acclaimed book ‘Evolution’s Arrow: The Direction of Evolution and the Future of Humanity’ while his work on cooperative organisational and psychological evolution has been published in a number of key papers in international science journals.
