William Bergquist interviewed Perry Rhue, an experienced coach, who has always been oriented toward the greater good in his work--but has focused in particular during the last year on issues related to race.
Perry is known for his coaching work in the areas of team coaching, leadership coaching, coach training, talent management and professional development. His expertise is helping individuals and teams understand their unique personal traits, gifts, talents, strengths, temperament, and “blind spots.” Next, he coaches clients to a place of effective performance and service within the organization. A former internal coach at IBM, his extensive experience in various areas of business gives him a broad and diverse background for coaching individuals and teams.. At IBM Perry’s team was a three time recipient of the coveted International Coaching Federation (ICF) PRISM award. The ICF PRISM award recognizes organization that integrate coaching as part of their business strategy and is committed to enhance and improve their leadership. Perry is also the Executive Director and co-founder, along with his teammate Ken Sawyer of The Rising Awareness Organization. Rising Awareness is "a journey" towards creating a coaching movement that will influence social change and leave apathy and racial issues behind us. Rising Awareness's chief aim is equipping business and life coaches with the skillset to effectively navigate through the "messy and uncomfortable conversations" about racism (social construct), social injustice, and inequality.
